SALEM, S.D. (KFGO) – Names have been released of the two people who died late Wednesday morning in a two-vehicle crash in McCook County, one mile west of Salem.
Preliminary crash information indicates 72-year-old Gerald E. Snoozy of Dell Rapids, SD, was driving a pickup headed westbound on SD Hwy 38. Gilbert L. Schuchardt, 77, of Spencer, SD, was the driver of an eastbound car. The vehicles collided in the westbound lane near milepost 331.
The drivers of both vehicles sustained fatal injuries, and both were not wearing seatbelts. There were no passengers in either vehicle.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
