FARGO (KFGO) – Fargo city commissioners on Monday approved a 5-year tax exemption for the expansion of John Deere Electronic Solutions, a manufacturing and design business located at 4101 19th Avenue North which is a division of Deere & Company.
Jim Gilmour, Fargo Director of Strategic Planning & Research, says the expansion will double the size of the existing building, an expansion of approximately 84,000 square feet. It will cost $16.8 million in addition to about $600,000 for additional equipment.
He says it was estimated John Deere Electronic Solutions would have 56 employees when it started 10 years ago and now has 157 employees. The expansion will add another 38 jobs with the ability to expand later.
Company spokesman Rich Malmgren says they are considered the “electronic arm” of John Deere, as they ship the equipment made at their location to more than 160 countries.
