DEVILS LAKE, N.D. (KFGO) – The Ramsey County Sheriff says everyone involved is okay after two vehicles went through the ice on Devils Lake Monday.
Sheriff Bryan Lang says the two incidents happened within a short period of each other, before 8 a.m. He says the Lake Region Search and Rescue Team was among the authorities who responded to the scene.
The first to go through the ice was a SnoBear, a heated ice fishing hut equipped with wide tracks and skis. Shortly after that, a side-by-side ATV went through the ice in the Six Mile Bay area.
Lang says there were three or four people on the ATV and one person was in the SnoBear.
Lang says the incidents show the need for anglers to be aware of changing ice conditions and the potential for cracks and pressure ridges to form on the ice this winter.
