HANKINSON, N.D. (KFGO) – The North Dakota Highway Patrol has released the name of a Fargo man who died after crashing the minivan he was driving on I-29 south of Hankinson early Friday morning.
The crash happened at Exit 1 near Dakota Magic Casino. It was earlier reported that the crash happened shortly after 8 a.m. After an investigation, the Highway Patrol says it happened around 3 a.m., but wasn’t reported until a passerby noticed the minivan around 8:15 a.m.
The Highway Patrol says Terry Peirson, 59, was headed north when he left the interstate, went into the ditch, hit a road-closed barricade and then struck supports for a highway sign. He died at the scene.
The Richland County Sheriff’s Office and Hankinson Fire Department responded to the scene.
