I-29 northbound between Hillsboro and Grand Forks
FARGO (KFGO) – Snow and freezing drizzle overnight Friday and into Saturday morning caused slippery road conditions in the Red River Valley.
Fargo received a trace of snow mixed with freezing drizzle. Early Saturday, the National Weather Service reported just over an inch of snow in Grand Forks.
The precipitation kept road crews busy in and out of town.
City of Fargo Streets supervisor Joe Port said they had crews treating the streets all night. He said the primary routes were good Saturday morning, but more expected winter weather would force the department to keep crews on during the day, overnight Saturday, and likely again Sunday morning.
Outside of the metro, multiple vehicles in the ditch, crashes, and jackknifed semis were reported. Speeds on I-29 between Hillsboro and Grand Forks mid-morning were around 25-40 miles per hour.
More snow is expected throughout the day Saturday with little to no new accumulation in Fargo, and around an inch of additional snow in the Grand Forks area.
