Before you find yourself contemplating the fate of the 26 inch tube TV you had in college…
Before you even
think
of entertaining the idea that someone in our fine city might want that old flat screen with the wonky pixels…
Before you rustle up your neighbor to help haul out that projector TV roughly the same size as Grandma’s china hutch…
Before you put your chiropractor on speed dial…
Before you go hunting for a Sharpie and a piece of paper on which to write “WORKS GREAT”…
Don’t.
Just don’t.
The Cities of Fargo, Moorhead, and West Fargo DO NOT pick up TV’s on the curb during clean up week.
No one
picks up TV’s on the curb. NO. ONE. Not during clean up week. Not ever.
As the city greens up and sidewalks are again full of walkers, bikers, kids and pets, the sight of old TV’s every few blocks is tacky and not in line with our cities’ expected standards. And sooner or later, someone is going to smash it and make a mess of your yard.
Here are some other ideas for that old TV:
Recycle it in Fargo and West Fargo at the Free Electronics Recycling Event taking place on May 5, 2018, from 9 AM to 2 PM at Fargo Solid Waste at 2301 8th Avenue North (one TV and one computer per household). More information
here
.
Recycle it in Moorhead at special collection events on May 5, 2018, and May 12, 2018, from 8 AM to 12 PM at 1300 15th Avenue North. See other collections times and information
here
.
Pawn it
,
donate it
,
repair it
, or
sell it
.
Upcycle it
. I myself am particularly enamored with turning old sets into pet beds.
But don’t put it out on the curb.
