LAKOTA, N.D. (KFGO) โ Two people are in jail after a pursuit in northeastern North Dakota Wednesday night.
According to the Grand Forks County Sheriffโs Office, a call came into dispatch shortly after 11 p.m. for a reckless driver headed west on Highway 2 about 35 miles west of Grand Forks.
The caller was able to provide a license plate number, and law enforcement determined the vehicle was stolen from Fargo and entering Nelson County. There were no Nelson County deputies in the area so the Highway Patrol asked for help from Grand Forks County deputies who found the vehicle and tried to stop it.
The driver fled at speeds up to 100 miles per hour. When a deputy attempted a PIT maneuver as the driver tried to make a left turn, the driver continued to flee heading back east on Highway 2.
Another deputy deployed spike strips that flattened three of the vehicleโs tires. It came to a stop a couple of miles later.
Claude Black, 28 of St. Michael, and 35-year-old Sherilyn Lohnes of Tokio, North Dakota were taken into custody by Nelson County deputies.
