ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Hmong American Partnership (HAP) in Minnesota is celebrating a surprise $2 million donation from philanthropist MacKenzie Scott.
HAP president May yer Thao says, “We are incredibly thankful for Mackenzie Scott’s generous donation, which will undoubtedly play a crucial role in advancing our mission to drive prosperity within Minnesota’s Hmong and New American communities.”
Thao says the funds will be utilized to expand existing programs, launch new initiatives, and strengthen the organization’s overall capacity to drive positive change.
Scott, the ex-wife of Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, has made headlines for giving away much of the wealth she gained following their 2019 divorce to charitable groups.
