Zach Hyman posted his third career hat trick while Connor McDavid and Mattias Janmark both collected three assists as the host Edmonton Oilers rode a four-goal first period to a 6-1 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes on Wednesday.
Warren Foegele produced one goal and one assist while Ryan McLeod and Mattias Ekholm added goals for the Oilers, who have won five straight games. Goaltender Stuart Skinner made 39 saves.
McDavid has collected 19 points (four goals, 15 assists) in a seven-game point streak. Evan Bouchard, who contributed two assists, has 12 points (two goals, 10 assists) in a nine-game run.
Jordan Staal replied for the Hurricanes, who have lost two straight games and three out of four. Starting goalie Pyotr Kochetkov was pulled after surrendering three goals on six shots. Antti Raanta stopped 25 shots in relief.
Panthers 5, Stars 4
The line of Aleksander Barkov, Sam Reinhart and Evan Rodrigues combined for nine points as Florida defeated Dallas in Sunrise, Fla.
Rodrigues had two goals and two assists to tie his career high of four points. Reinhart posted one goal and two assists, and Barkov provided one goal and one assist. Reinhart is tied for second in the NHL with 17 goals. The Panthers also got a goal from Carter Verhaeghe, two assists from Niko Mikkola and 29 saves by Sergei Bobrovsky.
Dallas’ Mason Marchment and Thomas Harley each had a goal and an assist, and Radek Faksa and Evgenii Dadonov also scored. Marchment and Dadonov are former Panthers. Stars goalie Jake Oettinger made 26 saves.
Golden Knights 6, Blues 3
Jack Eichel, William Karlsson and Keegan Kolesar each had a goal and an assist as visiting Vegas rallied past St. Louis to earn a split of a home-and-home sequence.
Zach Whitecloud, Jonathan Marchessault and Michael Amadio also scored for the Golden Knights, who erased a 3-1 deficit to extend their point streak to six games (3-0-3). Ivan Barbashev earned two assists for Vegas and Logan Thompson made 26 saves.
Jordan Kyrou had a goal and an assist for the Blues. Jake Neighbours and Kevin Hayes also scored, and Jordan Binnington made 43 saves.
Lightning 3, Penguins 1
NHL points leader Nikita Kucherov recorded a goal and an assist, established a Tampa Bay franchise record, and the Lightning topped visiting Pittsburgh.
The right winger assisted on Anthony Cirelli’s power-play goal to open the game. That gave Kucherov an 11-game assist streak to set a club record. It is also the league’s longest streak this season. Cirelli recorded his 200th career point on the goal, and Tanner Jeannot tallied as the Lightning won their second straight game.
Sidney Crosby had the lone assist for the Penguins, who lost their third straight match (0-1-2).
