ST. PAUL, Minn. (KFGO) – The commission in charge of selecting Minnesota’s new state seal has approved a conceptual design.
The design selected by the State Emblems Redesign Commission is blue and bronze with the image of a loon taking flight from a lake. The image, selected from five finalists, was also the public’s top pick with more than 3,000 comments in support of the concept.
Revisions to the design and wording of the seal are expected before the final version is agreed upon.
The commission is still considering a new state flag design from six finalists.
There were more than 2,600 designs for a new flag and seal submitted.
