Becker County house fire
DETROIT LAKES, MN (KFGO) – The Becker County Sheriff’s Office has released the names of those involved in a fire near Detriot Lakes Sunday morning. A 2-year-old boy died.
The sheriff’s office received a 911 call around 12:46 am of a fire on Duffney Road, 9 miles northeast of Detroit Lakes. The home belonged to Michael and Melissa Hedlund.
According to the report, children in the basement heard smoke alarms and saw flames on the main floor and alerted family members. The parents made it out through a second floor window. Michael Hedlund, the father, and older brother went back into the house after learning the 2 year-old was missing but were unable to find the male child.
He was later found dead. He was identified as Micah Hedlund.
The state fire marshal is assisting with the investigation.
