ST. PAUL, Minn. – Minnesota is investing $330 million into the state’s childcare industry as national pandemic funding to help boost childcare provider wages is ending.
Minnesota Majority Senate Leader Kari Dziedzic said some of that money goes directly into higher education help for people who want to enter the childcare industry to help build the dwindling population of childcare providers.
“I mean if you don’t have childcare, people can’t go to work, and that hurts businesses, that hurts families, and that hurts communities,” Dziedzic said.
State Senator Rob Kupec of Moorhead said childcare is one of the biggest workforce issues in the state.
