MAPLETON, N.D. (KFGO) – A head-on crash in a construction zone east of Mapleton, North Dakota injured two people Tuesday.
The Highway Patrol says the collision was reported around 3:30 p.m. near 36th Street and 166th Avenue Southeast. Both shoulders of the road were closed.
An SUV driven by 42-year-old William Callihan of Illinois was eastbound on 36th St. when he crossed over into the westbound lane and struck an SUV head-on, driven by 28-year-old Annika Greany-Stanger of West Fargo.
Callihan’s SUV went into a ditch. Both drivers were taken to a Fargo hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
A construction crew was working in the north ditch on a drilling project for the Red River Diversion when the crash happened and was not involved.
