ST. PAUL, Minn. – The family of the 12-year-old boy shot and killed Saturday morning in St. Paul’s North End is asking that the teen suspect arrested be released.
Markee Jones was fatally shot at a birthday sleepover, with family members saying the shooting was accidental, and that the 14-year-old boy in custody should be released.
“You can’t accuse and charge a child for a mistake,” Jones’s great-aunt Marilyn Hill said. “We’re going to stand in solidarity to the end to get him out.”
Police said results of a preliminary investigation indicate Jones died from a single gunshot wound to the torso.
