STILLWATER, Minn. (KFGO/WCCO) – Murder charges are filed against a man who police say ran over a teenage girl over the weekend in the Twin Cities.
Dylan Simmons, 20, of North Branch remains in the Washington County jail after surrendering to police not long after the collision happened in Forest Lake. Simmons is charged with third-degree murder and criminal vehicular homicide.
Witnesses say two groups of people were fighting in the area of West Broadway and Highway 61 before a car drove twice into the crowd striking and killing 17-year old Darisha Vath of Stacy, Minnesota.
Emergency responders attempted life-saving measures, but Vath died at the scene.
Forest Lake Police said the suspect and victim knew each other.
The girl’s parents say her ex-boyfriend was also in the car that hit her.
Police have video of the incident, which remains under investigation.
