(NDSU Athletics) Three North Dakota State University track & field freshmen will compete at the USATF U20 Outdoor National Championships next week in Eugene, Ore.
Aleah Miller, Sydney Arndt and Paul Olson all qualified for the meet based on their performances during their freshman season at NDSU.
Miller (Alexandria, Minn.) will compete in the 1500m on Friday, July 7, at 5:25 p.m. CT / 3:25 p.m. PT. As a freshman for the Bison this season, she won a Summit League indoor title in the distance medley relay and placed fifth in the mile at the conference meet. Miller qualified for the USATF U20 Championships by clocking 4:31.44 in the 1500m in April.
Arndt (Fond du Lac, Wis.) will run the 100m hurdles first round on Friday, July 7, at 4:45 p.m. CT / 2:45 p.m. PT. She took 4th in the 100m hurdles at the Summit League Championships this season after claiming a conference runner-up finish in the 60m hurdles indoors. Arndt clocked a season-best 13.88 in the 100m hurdles to qualify for the national U20 meet.
Olson (Kindred, N.D.) will compete in the decathlon on Saturday and Sunday, July 8-9. He scored 6,213 points in his first career attempt at the decathlon in early April to earn a spot in Eugene. Olson ranked 18th among all NCAA Division I freshman in the heptathlon during the 2023 indoor season.
