. Varseen is a student at Minnesota State University Moorhead. She is also a Kurd. Her family fled the Middle East after her father was shot as an interpreter for the United States. In fact, there was another time, while she was riding in a car with her family that they were shot at.
Her father had shown his American ID upon their demand. He had no option other than to make a run for it while his family was being shot at. They shot at

Varseen has an uncle in the middle of this war. He is a Kurd from Iraq and he volunteered to go fight with his brethren. The men and women on the Turkish border who are trying to save the Kurdish people from genocide. Imagine that; he volunteered.
The President of the United States left the Kurdish people to be annihilated. The very same Kurds that were our infantry in the war against ISIS. The very human beings that have been our allies in the Middle East for years.
I asked Varseen what she thought of America after this. She said her biggest concern was that the Kurdish people were going to confuse all of America with the President and his actions.
