As we tear off another page of the calendar let’s look and see what was in the news 100 years ago today, June 1st, 1919.
First up, a little article I found in the Omaha Bee. Soldiers were still returning from World War I and a big surprise for Private Davis aS he just receive a copy of his hometown newspaper!
As summer approaches I found these lyrics of a little song in the Red Lake News dedicated to an all familiar household pest.
And in the Evening Star from Washington DC, A report that future Hall of Famer Tris Speaker of the Cleveland Indians got into a little bit of a fight on the field the night before.
Also in 1919 on this date Ty Cobb of Detroit was hitting 377 and Babe Ruth started a great year on the mound as his record was 3 wins and no loses.
