From time to time I have a chance to turn back the hands of time 100 years and look at what appeared in local newspapers from around the country. Some kind of funny, some serious and some unbelievable!
Our first comes from the Silverton Oregon Tribune from Sept. 27th, 1919. We knew there was going to be quicker ways of delivering the mail….but I think this one didn’t last too long!
From The Sun in New York City, a story of a horrible fire and a brave husband/father. Dad gets the wife and kids out and then himself, but then his wife counts heads…..
Though “slugged” New York, this story is from the Bridgeport Conn. Times and Evening Farmer. A man is released from prison and walks up the matrimonial aisle with one of his victims!
And from the Evening World of New York City, Belgium wants cats now, and fast as there’s been a population explosion of mice!
Just a little fun looking back on this date in history. All articles appearing in newspapers date Sept. 27th, 1919!
