HOWARD LAKE, Minn. — The State Fire Marshal says a 7-year-old boy with a lighter started a fire that damaged two homes and a church in Howard Lake last month.
The boy’s father told officials his son used a lighter to set a stick on fire, then stomped it out, but it didn’t go out completely.
A storage shed in the yard caught fire and spread to the garage and house, as well as a neighboring house and nearby St. James Lutheran Church.
