Growing up a kid my Sunday ritual was church and Sunday school. There may have been a KC breakfast or another post-church activity… but in the fall I hurried home as fast as I could to watch the Jim Adelson (later Tom Coyne) pregame show on KX4. Followed by Brent Musburger, Irv Cross and Jimmy The Greek on NFL Today. Then it was game time!
I was glued to the TV to see if Tommy Kramer, Teddy Brown and Ahmad Rashad could score enough points or Matt Blair and the D could shutdown Lynn Dickey and James Lofton of the Packers. If the #1 team of John Madden and Pat Summeral called the game it was like a Super Bowl.
But that was then. Now I can’t stand the NFL on TV. Or any sport for that matter. The pre-game begins at sunrise and post game lasts until Monday morning. The TV is jammed with fantasy stats, scores and it’s to much.
All I want is the game and thankfully 790 gives me that. The game. Period.
I love to listen to the Vikings. Working on the radio it shouldn’t be a shock or a surprise, but I love listening to Paul Allen and the crew. I absolutely do.
