ST. PAUL – Monday is the final day of the 2023 legislative session at the State Capitol. The Minnesota Senate and the House both finished for the day by early evening Sunday, very unusual for the second-to-the-last day of the session, which has some hoping for a relatively calm and orderly finish by tonight’s midnight deadline.
The last big roadblock was removed over the weekend when Democrats and Republicans agreed to a borrowing package plus nursing home funding.
House Speaker Melissa Hortman says staff is now having to do a “super-human” job to get that bill into its final form and “hopefully we’ll be done in time.”
