ST. PAUL, Minn. — Activists are set to rally at the State Capitol at noon Saturday, the day after a 34-33 vote in the Minnesota Senate brought recreational marijuana a major step closer to being legal in Minnesota.
Faribault Republican John Jasinski warned, when the governor signs the bill, there’s no going back. He said all the problems legalizing recreational marijuana is going to create are on the Democrat majority in Minnesota, which he called “the one-party control, and the one-party rule here in Minnesota.”
Roseville Sen. John Marty said it is something Minnesota needs to do, and do it now.
“We should have done it long ago,” Marty said.
The House and Senate must agree to a compromise on the bill which would then go to Gov. Tim Walz who will likely sign it.
