Retired Horticulturalist Dave Decock gives KFGO listeners a chance to call in about their gardening questions. They don’t call him the Lord of the Lawn or the Prince of Pruning for nothing!
Listen to Plant Talk w/ Dave Decock every Thursday, during the growing season, between 1-2pm on KFGO 790 AM & 94.1 FM – and, worldwide, at kfgo.com. And, call-in with your questions! 701-237-5948 or 800-880-5346… You can text 35270 or email us at kfgo.studio@kfgo.com

In this episode:
Do you need to be worried about perennials with frost in the forecast? Dave says, “no”… all the stuff that is close to the ground will be okay. The ground is warm and they are used to colder temperatures. (We would be concerned if the apple trees were already blooming…)
Planting raspberries? Find a sunny area? Planting blueberries? Think again. Dave Decock says blueberries do not thrive in our soil. You might want to think about honeyberries – which are very similar to blueberries, but will thrive in our conditions.
Do you have nightcrawlers? Anything you can do to knock down the dirt/ bumps will be beneficial.
Pruning, moving plants and more are all part of the podcast above!
