BOWMAN, N.D. (KFGO/KNOX) – Police have arrested a man accused of trying to exhume a grave site in Bowman.
According to police, officers were called to the city’s cemetery on Easter Sunday morning by family members who said it appeared someone tried to dig up a relative’s grave site.
5-foot long by 3-foot wide hole had been dug about a foot deep into the decades-old site. Hand tools were found at the scene, and objects placed at the grave were reported missing.
Police arrested 38-year-old Anthony Partida-Breen of Bowman for disturbing a human burial site, which is a class C felony.
Partida-Breen is being held without bond in the Dickinson jail.
According to court records, Partida-Breen has a long criminal history dating back 21 years, including misdemeanor drug and alcohol arrests.
