According to the latest USDA National Ag Statistics Service numbers, fieldwork progress was mostly nonexistent over the past week.
Minnesota had 0.2 days suitable for fieldwork for the week. More storms added to snow-covered fields and no fieldwork was completed. There are concerns of flooding when the snow melts. No livestock issues were reported.
Topsoil moisture supplies were rated 4 percent very short, 7 percent short, 69 percent adequate, and 20 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies were rated 4 percent very short, 13 percent short, 70 percent adequate, and 13 percent surplus.
In North Dakota, there were 0.6 days suitable for fieldwork, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. Reports indicated that, on average, producers intend to begin fieldwork on May 4th. Topsoil moisture supplies rated 4% very short, 18% short, 57% adequate, and 21% surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies rated 7% very short, 23% short, 59% adequate, and 11% surplus.
