EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (KFGO/WCCO) – The coach of the boys’ basketball team at Eden Prairie has resigned, effective immediately.
David Flom has been under scrutiny since late last year after an incident in the locker room where, in the course of explaining the responsible use of social media, used a racial slur as what not to say.
After a district investigation and an apology, he was reinstated after a suspension. But some people, both on and off the team, were not happy with that outcome.
On Friday, the school acknowledged Flom’s resignation and announced that a search for a new coach is underway. They said they’re looking for input from students and families in the search.
Flom was initially suspended on Dec. 8 after reading the slur off of one of the player’s social media posts. He was then reinstated in January.
