ST. PAUL, Minn. – Democrats plan to bring a $1.5 billion bonding package up for a vote in the Minnesota Senate after passage in the House last week.
Stillwater Republican Karin Housley said she thinks it’s a waste of time.
“It will be dead on arrival without any tax cuts,” Housley said.
GOP members first want lawmakers to pass tax relief and eliminate state income tax on Social Security benefits.
Republican Rep. Dean Urdahl voted for the House public works package telling members.
“Minnesotans want clean water,” Urdahl said. “They want a good transportation system for personal travel and for a vibrant economy.”
Gov. Tim Walz has said he won’t give a tax break to wealthy Minnesotans.
