ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Bureau of Apprehension says a second Stillwater police officer fired his gun during a standoff in an apartment last weekend that resulted in the death of a 21-year-old man.
Sergeant Daniel Young is on administrative leave, which is standard practice.
Officers arrived at the apartment building after numerous people reported hearing gunfire. Okwan Sims reportedly shot at officers’ squad cars at least twice.
A woman later told investigators she was at Sims’ apartment when he shot her. She’s expected to fully recover.
