ST. PAUL, Minn. – A bill in the Minnesota House aims to protect local election administration, and keep elections safe.
Democratic Rep. Emma Greenman of Minneapolis said election workers have become the targets of increasing threats and harassment over the last three years.
Greenman said the state needs to show the 30,000 election officials and poll workers that things like threats, interference, and intimidation are unacceptable, and that intentional interference or tampering with machines and voter lists will not be tolerated.
The bill passed the House Elections committee.
