BISMARCK, N.D. (KFGO) – A semi-truck driver from Miami, Florida was cited for careless driving after crashing into a “road closed” gate on I-94 in Bismarck.
The interstate had been closed from Bismarck to Fargo all night and vehicles were parked on the right shoulder around 9:30 a.m. waiting for the road to open.
According to the Highway Patrol, the 44-year-old driver was traveling east in the left lane when he encountered the gate at exit 161. The driver tried to stop, but was not able to and crashed into the gate.
The entire gate was damaged and the truck sustained minor damage.
The driver was cited for driving faster than conditions allowed to maintain control of his vehicle.
