ST. PAUL – State lawmakers aren’t working at the Minnesota Capitol Monday on the M-L-K holiday, but they’re back Tuesday and abortion will again be in the spotlight:
A highly controversial bill that would put abortion rights into Minnesota law awaits a vote in the Minnesota House and has a third hearing in the Senate on Wednesday.
Deephaven Democratic Senator Kelly Morrison said, “We shouldn’t have to worry that our basic, fundamental health care rights might be decimated by a future rogue court,”
Another controversial bill that’s moving forward would repeal a wide variety of anti-abortion state laws the courts have struck
down, but which remain on the books.
Cathy Blaeser, with Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life, said, “This bill would, appalling, repeal existing law which protects the life of an infant born alive after an attempted abortion.”
