(Osgood Golf Course)
Do you need a hobby? Do you have a hobby?
I’ve been in conversations the past week about hobbies. Basically the point comes back to is if your making money at it does it still classify as a hobby? If you have to show up at a certain time and place is it still a hobby?
In my personal view it does. If you do wood work and are able to sell it. Is it no longer a hobby? If you take a few pictures and are able to get paid for them is it still a hobby? Yes.
I’d argue if you enjoy what you do and you do it because you love it. Then its a hobby. If it brings some fulfillment in your life and you feel a sense of accomplishment or purpose? I’d call that a hobby. But what about if you have to show up at 9 a.m. for a fishing tournament or golf event? What if you are going to spend a weekend at a craft show selling your labor of love?
What if you get frustrated with it?
Let me take golf or fishing for example. Are there tournaments where you can make money? Sure. But are there times its frustrating? Of course. So if you make money and at times are frustrated is it no longer a hobby?
What’s your hobby? Do you make money at it?
