(KFGO/KNFL) Kyle Smolen scored a goal for the second consecutive game as the Fargo Force won its fifth consecutive game, a 4-2 victory over Des Moines at Scheels Arena on Friday night.
Smolen has two goals and three assists so far in the weekend series. His power-play goal with eight seconds left in the second period gave the Force a 4-1 lead. German Yavash, Ty Henricks, and Tanner Walos added goals for the Force.
Fargo has outscored its opponents 48-19 in the second period this season, tops in the USHL.
Moorhead’s Joe Gramer scored his first goal of the season for Des Moines to cut the Force lead to 4-2 with 3:04 left in the game. Anton Castro recorded 28 saves for the Force.
Fargo is now 18-5-0-3 on the season with 39 points and maintain a six-point lead over Lincoln at the top of the USHL’s Western Conference standings.
