FARGO (KFGO) – Ice buildup and wind is to blame for several sections of netting coming down at Suite Shots in south Fargo Thursday afternoon.
Chuck Johnson with Suite Shots said around 1:30 p.m., after ice built up and the wind started to blow, the load got to be too much and the clips on the first sections of the netting started to break away.
“It started on the far end of the range,” Johnson said. “We saw a few sections unclip and come down. Those of us that were in the building stepped outside in time to see the rest of those sections (come down).”
Johnson said it was a little eerie listening to the clips breaking.
The clips are designed to break away so as not to break the poles and cause more damage.
Most of the netting on the north side came down. Johnson said one section started to come unclipped on the east side. The south side was not damaged. He said he still needs to get out and verify damage.
The Texas-based company that installed the netting plans to come to Fargo on Saturday to assess the situation. Depending on whether there are tears and how much damage there is, Johnson said they hope to have the outside tee line up and running by the middle of next week.
In the meantime, Johnson said all indoor activities, including simulators, restaurants, etc. are still operating as normal.
Tyler Molacek was at Suite Shots at the time of the damage. He submitted this video to KFGO News:
