FARGO (KFGO) – Fargo City Commissioner Dave Piepkorn says, “it’s time to take back downtown. He’s talking about public safety.
He wants a larger police presence to crack down on what he calls harassment and aggressive panhandlers.
Piepkorn said the perception is that downtown is not safe and it has to be addressed. He said, “on a daily basis harassment of law-abiding citizens of Fargo happens when they are walking downtown.”
City Commissioner Arlette Preston questioned that. She lives downtown and said she walks there often and rarely if ever does she feel unsafe.
Piepkorn wants public input as the city works to make the changes needed. That includes more police presence.
