ST. PAUL, Minn. – Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon says voter turnout was good for Tuesday’s primary election with roughly 18 percent of eligible Minnesota voters participating.
Could that be an indicator of turnout for the general election in November?
“I say ‘no,’” Simon said. “Because there are examples just in the last 10 years where turnout was really, really low in the primary election in August, but in the general election we were number one in the country. So, they’re really disconnected. They’re really two totally different kinds of creatures.
The general election this year is Nov. 8.
