DETROIT LAKES, Minn. (KFGO) – Two people were injured and a man is in jail after a vehicle crashed into Lakes Inn in Detroit Lakes just after 8:30 p.m. Saturday.
According to a media release from the Detroit Lakes Police Department, emergency crews responded to a call of people seriously injured and trapped in debris after a vehicle crashed into the building. Reports also indicated a significant gas leak due to the crash.
Police said the driver then drove off, but was later spotted several blocks away while emergency personnel were responding to the incident.
Officers arrested Wade Olds, 53 of Detroit Lakes, for several offenses including criminal vehicular operation and causing great bodily harm. Alcohol appears to have been a factor.
Emergency crews were able to remove the two trapped people, both 77 years old, who were transported to an area hospital before being transported to hospitals in Fargo.
The incident remains under investigation.
