FARGO (KFGO) – A fire caused heavy damage to a room at Motel 6, at 1202 36th Street South in Fargo. Firefighters responded to a fire alarm shortly before 10 p.m. Thursday. They were met by the manager of the hotel who said there was a fire in the first-floor room.
The firefighters opened the door to the motel room and were met by heavy black smoke and found a mattress and bedding on fire.
Crews had the fire extinguished within 10 minutes of the 911 call.
The current occupant of the room was not at the motel when the fire department arrived. All other occupants of the motel were allowed to return to their rooms once the smoke was ventilated from the building.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. There were no injuries.
Battalion Chief Joe Mangin said the fire alarm system alerted the fire department in the early stages of this fire and the early notification and quick response of the first arriving firefighters kept the damage to a minimum allowing the motel to remain in operation.
