IRVING, Texas – The National Football Foundation & College Football Hall of Fame (NFF) announced the members of the 2022 NFF Hampshire Honor Society on Wednesday. The Honor Society is comprised of college football players from all divisions of play who each maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or better throughout their college careers.
This year’s membership is an impressive group with 1,559 players from 313 schools that span all divisions of college football for the society’s 16th year. North Dakota has been represented every year since joining Division I in 2008 and had five student-athletes among the latest honorees: wide receiver Brock Boltmann, defensive back Jordan Canady, offensive lineman Babak Ghadaksaz, defensive back Evan Holm and offensive lineman Matt Waletzko.
“We are pleased to honor another impressive group of athletes as a part of this year’s Hampshire Honor Society,” said NFF President & CEO Steve Hatchell. “For more than a decade, the Hampshire Honor Society has served as a powerful vehicle for schools to recognize their college football players who have distinguished themselves both academically and athletically, and we congratulate the schools and each of these young men for their commitment to excellence in all aspects of their lives.”
With the five players from this year’s class, North Dakota has now had 56 players named to the society, which began in 2007. The five players this year are the most Fighting Hawks announced to the Honor Society since 2018, when seven UND graduates made the group.
Nominated by their respective schools, members of the NFF Hampshire Honor Society must have:
* Completed their final year of playing eligibility in 2021
* Achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 throughout the entire course of undergraduate study
* Met all NCAA- or NAIA-mandated progress toward degree requirements; and
* Been starters or significant contributors throughout the 2021 season.
