ST. PAUL, Minn. – Gov. Tim Walz is applauding the federal government for awarding over $75 million for additional construction on the Lewis and Clark Regional Water System that brings Missouri River water into southwest Minnesota, South Dakota and northwest Iowa.
“[It’s] just a huge shot in the arm,” Executive Director Troy Larson said of the funding from the federal infrastructure bill. “Of all the boosts we’ve got through the years, this is by far the biggest.”
Larson said Minnesota sections of the project through Luverne to Worthington are already complete, but finishing other segments will bring down water rates for everyone, including Minnesota users.
