DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – The Detroit Lakes High School initiated a code yellow after a bomb threat was received, Thursday afternoon.
At 1:31 p.m., Thursday the Detroit Lakes Police Department received a call from an unknown caller who alleged that there was a bomb in a backpack, specifically in an English classroom at Detroit Lakes High School. Authorities promptly contacted the School Administration and were on-site immediately.
A code yellow was initiated and an extensive search of backpacks, classrooms and other areas of the school was conducted finding nothing of concern. The code yellow was lifted and normal activities resumed late Thursday afternoon.
“The safety of our students and staff is our highest priority. We take threats of any kind very seriously and are very thankful for the cooperation and professionalism of our law enforcement agencies,” said Principal Josh Omang in a letter to parents.
