EDINA, MINN. – Golf courses around the state are hoping they will be able to open this spring despite the stay-at-home order.
The Minnesota Golf Association says it is seeking clarification on the governor’s executive orders covering outdoor activities and the closure of public places including golf facilities. They are also waiting for confirmation that golf course workers may continue turf maintenance practices to preserve the more than 450 courses during a critical time for seed germination.
Governor Tim Walz said last week that he’d listen to health experts and explore the potential to let golfers pay online. He called golfing a “legitimate outdoor activity.”
