St. Paul teachers on strike (Saint Paul Federation of Educators)
ST. PAUL, Minn. – Public school teachers in the Twin Cities may be exchanging classrooms for picket lines this week.
Minneapolis teachers are scheduled to vote today on whether to go on strike, while St. Paul teachers will vote Thursday on striking. Union members in both school districts are demanding smaller class sizes, an increase in mental health resources, and more help for special needs teachers. Minneapolis union members also want pay hikes for Education Support Professionals, or E-S-P’s.
St. Paul union members also want higher pay for assistants, plus higher salaries to compete with surrounding districts.
