Leona (Lee) Solberg passed away peacefully on Monday, February 7,2022 at Essentia Health, Fargo, ND, surrounded in love from her husband, two daughters and their spouses.
Lee was born on May 9,1945 to Steve and Ann (Kordonowy) Hlebichuk in Bismarck, ND. She graduated from Bismarck High School in 1963 and later The School of Hair Design in Bismarck.
When she moved to Fargo, she met Jerry Solberg who would become her best friend and husband. Theirs was a true love story that began when Jerry jumped in the backseat of the car her best friend and her were driving. Like an old car it didn’t start on that first time. They met a few years later and kept loving each other for 55 years.
Family meant everything to Lee. Lee and Jerry had three beautiful daughters and three wonderful grandchildren together. An outstanding cook and baker, she kept her Ukrainian heritage alive by making traditional Christmas and Easter meals that were cherished by both family and friends.
Lee’s wickedly smart sense of humor, excellent cooking, playful and caring nature, and her generosity will be missed most by family and friends.
Lee is survived by her husband Jerry, daughter Stephanie (Terry) Hagen, and daughter Jackie (Scott) Terfehr, her grandchildren Jordyn (13 years), Izzy (8 years), and Nolan (8 months), her brother Larry (Arizona), sister Lynn (Linton), sister Lila (Fargo) and many nephews and nieces. Their deep faith in God provided comfort when Lee and Jerry lost their daughter, Stacey, eight years ago.
She is preceded in death by her daughter Stacey, her parents, her brother Leo, and brother-in-law, Bruce.
Lee’s Mass of Christian Burial will begin with a rosary at 1pm and service at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, February 15,2022 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, West Fargo, with Fr. Phil Ackerman as celebrant. Interment will take place at Wild Rice Cemetery in the spring.
