MOORHEAD, MINN. (KFGO) – City leaders say it’s still very preliminary, but discussion has started about the possible sale of Moorhead City Hall.
Governmental Affairs Director Lisa Bode says the 1970’s era building, connected to the Moorhead Center Mall, is crowded and out-of-date. She says there’s a significant shortage of space that has left no choice but to move offices into conference areas and make two offices out of one. Bode says there have also been tremendous advances in technology since the building was built and the structure doesn’t lend itself to the new technology.
Bode says a sale price has not yet been determined. The city property also includes parking lots around the mall.
While no specific site has been mentioned for a new city hall, Bode says with downtown redevelopment, it’s possible additional private sector development could include a city hall and additional commercial space.
