CASSELTON, ND – Central Cass used their excellent outside shooting to cruise past Wyndmere/Lidgerwood Warbirds 70-42 in a Region 1 boys’ matchup Thursday night.
The Warbirds raced out to a 9-2 lead on the back of two Bryer Kaczynski dunks in the first minute of the game, but the Squirrels clamped down defensively as the game progressed. The Squirrels forced a bevy of turnovers that led to transition points and fast break layups to separate from Wyndmere/Lidgerwood.
The Squirrels’ (7-0 overall, 3-0 Region 1) junior Sam Kobbervig paced all scorers with 18 points. Three of his teammates also finished in double figures: Jake Deutsch (13), Carter Vrchota (11), and Mason Bosse (11).
Wyndmere/Lidgerwood (1-4 overall, 0-2 Region 1) was led by junior Bryer Kaczynski with 17 points.
The Warbirds will next take on Dunseith in the Barnes County tournament at Valley City State University on Tuesday, February 11th.
Central Cass will travel to Carrington on Thursday, January 13th.
