Devils Lake standout Grant Nelson was named Mr. Basketball in North Dakota on Friday.
Nelson helped the Firebirds to the state tournament this season and he was named EDC Senior Athlete of the Year.
Mr. Basketball has been handed out annually since 1985 and goes to the state’s top senior in high school. The North Dakota Associated Press Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association vote on the award.
Nelson will continue his basketball career at North Dakota State University in the fall.

Voting is conducted on a 5-3-1 points system, where a voter gets to list their top three choices.
