ST. PAUL, Minn. – The St. Paul School Board has backed off a plan to close five schools in the district after getting strong resistance from community members, parents, teachers, and students.
Monday night it was announced that three of the targeted schools would not be closed – LEAP, Highwood Hills, and Wellstone. District officials had decided they would be able to better allocate their resources if they had fewer school buildings being used.
A vote on the final version of the plan will be taken at a meeting Wednesday.
