DETROIT LAKES, Minn. – Detroit Mountain, near Detroit Lakes is planning on opening for the winter season, Saturday.
One challenge this year, however, is staffing. General Manager, Jeff Staley says the Mountain is approximately 50 percent staffed.
He says in order to attract new workers, wages have been increased in all departments and some of the perks of the job have been expanded.
More than 125 employees are needed to get to full operation with approximately 60 to 70 staff through the course of a single day.
The Mountain, in its 8th season, will plan to keep some of the changes that were implemented last season due to the COVID-19 pandemic including pre-purchasing lift tickets, rentals, and tubing online. Advance booking is not required for season pass holders. Snow making continues at the Mountain.
Detroit Mountain will be open Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.
